2 KU officials arrested for embezzlement

Srinagar, Jan 11: Police on Wednesday arrested two officials of Kashmir University for their alleged involvement in a “coal scam”.

Few days ago, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi had handed over a case related to the embezzlement of lakhs of rupees in procurement of hard-coal to Police Station Nigeen that had registered a formal case, local news agency CNS reported.

During police investigation, the role of two top officials of the varsity was established in the scam and they have been arrested, the news agency reported.

An official from Kashmir University said that both the arrested employees are from the administration.
