BJP decides to back PDP in by-polls

Srinagar/Anantnag: Holding National Conference and Congress responsible for political instability and people’s sufferings, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hoped that the electorate will once again give their verdict against the troubling alliance.

A party spokesman said that the generations have suffered because of the unholy designs of NC and Congress.

While launching the election campaign for the forthcoming parliamentary by-polls, the spokesman said that the desperation of the two parties is visible in their fresh accord.

“It is the NC and Congress that have alienated Jammat-e-Islami, Peoples Conference, Awami Action Committee and others who were once part of the election process. The parties should be held accountable for this political error which has ever since left trail of destruction behind and the state continues to reel under violence and instability.”

The party’s candidate for by polls from Srinagar parliamentary constituency, Nazir Ahmad Khan said that the PDP deserves chance and support to take the course correction to its logical conclusion. He said the emergence of the PDP was a historical necessity and the destructive forces like NC and Congress have become jittery and are bent upon continuing the uncertainty which they have historically thrived upon. He said the PDP represents the aspirations of the common masses and once voted to parliament he will become voice to people’s needs and demands. “It is only PDP that has the potential and capability to clear the mess created by NC and Congress over the years,” he said. He made a fervent appeal for the people’s love and support which he said was important to take the state out of the present morass.

Senior party leaders, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Education Minister, who is also election in charge of the parliamentary constituency; Naeem Akhtar, PWD minister; Gh Nabi Lone, Agriculture Minister; General secretaries Nizamudin Bhat and Qazi Mohammad Afzal; Asiya Naqash, MoS Health; Khurshid Aalam, MLC; Noor Mohammad Sheikh, MLA; Saifudin Bhat, MLC; Bashir Ahmad Mir, Muntazir Mohudin and zone presidents of all the fifteen constituencies were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, BJP has decided to campaign for its coalition partner, PDP, in the forth coming by-polls in Anantnag  and Srinagar parliamentary constituencies.

BJP, MLC Sofi Yousuf in a workers convention on Sunday in Khanabal Anantnag announced that BJP has decided not to field its candidates in the by-polls.

He urged voters of Anantnag constituency to support the PDP candidate, Tasaduq Mufti, brother of  Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

Sofi said that the decision came after party held meeting in Jammu that was chaired by party’s national general secretary, Ram Madhav on Saturday.

“BJP has crossed the basic membership number to three lakhs and our all votes will go to PDP,” Sofi said.
