Mirwaiz condemns killing of Muslims in Burma and Assam

Srinagar, August 10: Chairman APHC (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed serious concern over the killing of Muslims in Burma and Indian state of Assam. Mirwaiz termed the incidents as crimes against humanity and said the entire Muslim Ummah was sad over these incidents.
Addressing a large gathering on the eve of martyrdom anniversary of fourth Caliph, Hazrat Ali (RA) at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar, APHC Chairman expressed serious concern over the killings. He said that the Muslims in the entire world were getting blessed in this month of Ramzaan while the killings of Muslims in Burma and Assam were cause of concern for the Ummah.
Mirwaiz appealed OIC to take serious notice of the genocide of Muslims in Burma and asked it to exert pressure on the country so that the killings are stopped immediately.
He said APHC welcomes the OIC meet in Makkah in this regard. He also hailed recent statement of OIC general secretary Ikmaldin Ahsanoglu whereby he has said that Kashmir dispute figures on the OIC agenda. Mirwaiz said OIC should take serious notice of gross human rights violation in Kashmir, continuous detention of leaders, condition of prisoners, and violent incidents that are taking place in the Valley.
Criticizing the continuous house detention of elderly political leader Syed Ali Geelani and many others, he said authorities have imposed curbs on their religious activities. “These leaders are even barred from offering Friday prayers in this holy month of Ramzaan,” Mirwaiz said.
APHC Chairman said as a Mirwaiz of Kashmir “I ask government to lift the curbs on leaders.” He said that terror and fear cannot suppress the aspiration for freedom among the masses here.
Mirwaiz also threw light on the various facets of the life of Hazrat Ali (RA) and said he spent his entire life defending and spreading the message of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). He said that his life would inspire Muslim generations till the last Day of Judgment.
Mirwaiz announced that upcoming Jumait-ul-vida would be observed as Youm-e-Qadoos and Youm-e-Kashmir on both sides of the LOC. He said on this day large congregations would be organized at Khanqahs, Masjids and Imam Baras and a resolution will be passed before lakhs of Kashmiris at Jamia Masjid on the occasion. He said this resolution would be later sent to the UN and OIC.
